Ask, and It is Given!
One of my favorite Mediterranean foods is falafel. I love falafel! I have had – and enjoyed – falafel numerous times in my life. Sometimes at restaurants, sometimes from food trucks, and sometimes from the ready-to-go snacks at Natural Grocers. My previous favorite falafel that I really enjoyed was last year in Greece… but the Falafel Salad I had from BlackBerry Café in Antalya, Türkiye unquestionably – according to my taste buds – takes the cake! One of the first nights in Antalya, still adjusting to the new time zone, my friend Jessica and I wanted to go out, and also wanted to stay in, so we figured, “ooh, takeaway!” So, takeaway it was. We ordered our dinner and two soufflés for takeaway and enjoyed our meal from the comfort of our apartment.
When I bit into my falafel, I paused and enjoyed the moment with serious intention - it was so good, it stole all of my attention. I have found that falafel can be rather dry sometimes and usually requires a sauce of sorts – tzatziki or hummus are my preferences. However, this falafel was cooked so wonderfully; it was perfectly crispy on the outside and surprisingly moist on the inside. I was so pleased I am sure I commented about how good it was nearly every single bite!
We were both so satisfied with our meals that we immediately dug into our dessert – that we assumed HAD to be good considering our main course. These epically crafted soufflés were the best dessert we could have asked for! Still hot from the oven, this superbly cooked chocolate cake with a deliciously creamy texture was complete with a perfect ooey gooey molten center. I’d offer a picture if I had one… but we were so wrapped up in the delicious dessert that I only now realize there is no external evidence of this perfection.
It is so much fun to set an intention for a meal – local cuisine, but within the comfort of our apartment, with something chocolatey for dessert – to then be met with exactly what we intended, and more. Not only was the meal perfect… the restaurant was literally at the base of our apartment. Ask, and it is given!
